In the world of mineral processing, one needs to “sweat the assets”.
As there are less greenfields projects, the focus has moved to brownfields ones. MIP Process has the resources and capability to modernise older thickeners and process equipment.
Many of South African plants contain outdated equipment, which can be revitalised at minimal cost. Better throughputs and higher efficiency can be achieved with newer technology. This arrangement has proved very successful at a Phosphate mine in South Africa. The modernisations of the thickeners have resulted in much higher and consistent underflow densities. Subsequent downstream process efficiencies like filtration benefits immensely. The added benefit is the substantial saving of water, which is a scarce commodity.
Another example of this is the refurbishment of two (2) 45.7m diameter thickener mechanisms for a gold operation. Thickeners that have been dormant for years can now be put back in operation for minimal investment. This enables the mining operation to increase production thus producing more products (gold in this instance) and stays economically viable.
MIP Process Technologies’ equipment design meets the requirement of reliability and higher throughput.
MIP has a large installed base of equipment worldwide and serves the industry via its own offices combined with its agents. The product range includes the following:
- Attrition scrubbers
- Bag Filters
- Dry dust cyclones
- Flocculant plant
- Horizontal belt filters
- Reagent plants
- Slurry samplers
- Wet scrubbers for dust extraction applications
